No Preset Spending Limit Design
Capital One introduced a No Preset Spending Limit (NPSL) product for select Venture X customers, but the benefit was nuanced and unfamiliar to most users and unexpected withinin this flow. Our goal was to clearly communicate the value without creating confusion or mistrust, while simutaneously ensuring a smooth acceptance experience as part of a broader initiative to simplify the application process.
MY CONTRIBUTION
Led the end-to-end design strategy for the Upmarket team, owning final dev-ready files and driving alignment across product, legal, and development. Developed UserTesting materials (i.e. script, prototype, audience) and spearheaded research to validate messaging clarity and user understanding of NPSL.
PROCESS
Partnered with cross-functional teams to navigate legal and technical constraints, followed by the design of initial experience flows and creation of a UserTesting script to evaluate how users interpreted the NPSL value proposition. These insights informed refinements to both messaging and UI, ensuring a clear, validated experience that minimized business risk.
OUTCOME
Projected to drive a $1.7k increase in NPV per NPSL VX.
We shipped an NPSL accept experience that simplified a complex financial concept, building user confidence while reducing friction. The project also established a repeatable model for how we communicate nuanced product features across pre-approval experiences—balancing business needs with user clarity.
