Global Compare Scaling Strategy

Global Compare, Capital One's card comparison tool, is a high-performing feature that allows users to add and evaluate multiple cards side by side. We were motivated to scale this product as customers who engage with this tool convert at a 2x higher rate. We set our initial focus on expanding to the credit card homepage, product suite pages, and product detail pages.

MY CONTRIBUTION

Led the design strategy for how Global Compare would scale across Capital One’s ecosystem with a hyper-focus on the myriad user experiences it demands. Crafted high-leverage test cells to identify the clearest path for users, created walkthrough videos to align stakeholders, and partnered closely with cross-functional partners to ensure a unified experience strategy.

PROCESS

Defined test variants to answer key experience questions, i.e. Do users prefer the tool to appear instantly? Does the tool interrupt the user shopping experience? Should the tool persist across pages? Produced internal walkthrough videos of each variant to reduce ambiguity and help product, legal, and tech partners quickly align to these nuance user journeys.

OUTCOME

The clear strategy and communication enabled a smooth rollout and cross-functional alignment allowing us to not only scale the tool, but to do so with validated user experience. This initiative resulted in the usage of the Global Compare increasing by 3x across the site, and up to a 233% PV/V lift.
